Energy use
Nowadays it is a key problem to find new ways and methods for the efficient and rational use of energy. Hungary has to face the following challenges which determine the basics of the country’s energy strategy:
- The global need for energy is constantly increasing
- The dependence on foreign energy keeps growing
- The supply of fossil energy carriers is becoming harder and harder, while the risk of shortage is increasing
- The price of energy is increasing all around the world
- The restrictions regarding environmental protection are becoming stricter
The Hungarian long-term energy strategy involves the support of conscious energy use, the increase of energy efficiency and the decrease in the emission of air pollution.

Mineral oil is not a renewable energy source
There is a possible solution for the challenges which involves the increase in the use of national renewable energy sources, the decrease in the emission of carbon-dioxide, and through these also the support of regional development in the country, with respect to increasing the role of renewable energy sources in producing electricity. The government is planning to increase the ratio of renewable energy sources up to 7 % by 2013 and up to 14 % by 2020, within the country’s total energy use. According to the plans, the ratio of bio-fuels is expected to reach 6 % by 2013 and 10 % by 2020. Of course in order to use energy efficiently, the habits of the consumers must also be changed. Körös-Maros Regional Development and Organic Farming Foundation wants to participate in this work.
