Ecological farming is farming close to nature – a way of agricultural production which provides supply for the soil from natural sources, and which preserves the balance of nature. Bio-production uses produced materials and sources in an optimal quantity; it uses materials which have been bought from exterior sources in a limited quantity; it provides a satisfying income for the economy; its negative medical effects are minimal. It’s safe; it doesn’t harm the fauna; it doesn’t endanger natural waters and the environment. Ecological farming takes the natural conditions of the certain territories into consideration - the grown and the breed species; it is against the use of genetically manipulated species; it supports renewable energy sources; it does not use synthetic chemicals, only biological and organic ones; it can be characterized by a strictly controlled production process.

Those involved in ecological farming are more prepared than the average farmers involved in more conventional farming with respect to problems and tasks concerning natural values. It is much easier to fit the protection of nature and the local wild life into the principles of eco-farmers.

Eco-farmers don’t only concentrate on the production, but they also plan, think and act in connection with the sales and processing, through which they appear more on the local market and in the life of the local community. Eco-farmers are also open to cooperation. It is often experienced that the participants of eco-farming – recognizing their mutual interests - form local and national co-operations in order to secure their activities together.

Organic farming is a life-style, which is extremely important in connection with the forming of attitudes in order to spread and strengthen sustainable development. The spreading of organic farming and making it popular are also major aims of Körös-Maros Regional Development and Organic Farming Foundation.
